Disable Ctrl+Space Opera Keyboard Shortcut

How to disable the the "Go Home" keyboard shortcut in Opera

This is the most anoying Opera browser shortcut as whenever typing I have more then once accidently lost my work due to this "Go Home" shortcut. The previous button will only work if the form is initialy empty but if you are updating a post, or a comment it restores that and so you loose your work, hence most counter productive keyboard shortcut.

Disable this productivy killer by doing the following steps:

  • Click 'Opera button' on goto to 'Settings' > 'Preferences'
  • Go the 'Advanced' tab
  • Select 'Shortcuts' at the bottom of list on the left
  • Select 'Edit' next to the 'Keyboard setup' list
  • In the search window type 'space ctrl'
  • Press 'Delete'
  • Press 'Ok'
  • Add me to your G+ "Cool" Circle

Disable "Back" - backspace keyboard shortcut

Don't even get me started on this one - symptom Opera has focus but you think you are in Putty and press Backspace and loose the latest blog you were writing - I will leave you Opera one day!

  • Click 'Opera button' on goto to 'Settings' > 'Preferences'
  • Go the 'Advanced' tab
  • Select 'Shortcuts' at the bottom of list on the left
  • Select 'Edit' next to the 'Keyboard setup' list
  • In the search window type 'backspace'
  • Locate 'Platform Windows-Unix-MCE, Backspace'
  • Press 'Delete'
  • Press 'Ok'
  • Add me to your G+ "Cool" Circle

    Those shortcuts have been responsible for 98% of any frustration I've felt the past few years. Just lost a long comment and got mad for the last time. *points wand at shortcuts* Avada Kedavra!

    freakin' eh, thank you very, very much. the backspace / ctrl backspace one has been killing me...

    Dear Opera, when you are in a text field. you should not have the same key bindings enabled. control is reserved for whole-word editing. -_-;
    so hard to break the habit of control+backspace when I notice a typo.. dang reaction is faster than my brain it seems. oi.

Softeher 'Error occurred. (Error code: 2)' sollution

Protocol error occurred. Error was returned from the destination server. The Softether server by default to run on port 443 , if you server also hosts normal https then 443 is already taken and so Softether can't bind to it. When you run `vpncmd` it attempts to connect, find an active port, but of course fails with 'Protocol error occurred. Error was returned from the destination server.' because it's not actually connecting to the vpn server. By default Softether also listens on 992 , 1194 , and 5555 so the sollution is to modify specify `localhost:5555` when executing the `vpncmnd`. GeoDjango + Spatialite (SQLite3) Setup Issues

Because there are fresh ones every time I start a new project! As of May 03 2013 I have opted to install virtualenv --system-site-packages and running aptitude-install python-pysqlite2 spatialite-bin gdal-bin ; the site are not as self contained any more but sure beats fighting with the issues. All my Django projects are self contained (as much as possible) with Virtualenv and use Spatialite database (SQLite3 +geo spatial stuff) installed so to enable GeoDjango functionality.
